I have raised chicks for years. Never got an upside down baby before, Until tonight...
I'm incubating some duck eggs, that I'm hand turning. I tossed in 3 quail eggs just because there was no room for them in the egg carton in the fridge. I didn't even expect to get a hatch, but here's quail 3 coming out. I didn't even noticed he piped accept I bumped the egg when turning the other eggs. I picked him up to inspect if the egg was cracked or piping. I realized it was a pip. I listened but heard nothing, I tapped at the egg to see if he'd move around and nothing.
Eventually my curiosity got the best of me and I used a pair of tweezers to pull back the shell a small amount and I revealed a beak. Still no movement. I went to put his egg back when he cried out and started thrashing in the egg to my delight and resumed zipping. I watched him work for a minute and I noticed the tiniest bit of blood coming out of the egg. I've had chicks cut threw their veins before and bled a little but still hatched healthy. I have never ever had a chick upside down though!

Should I be worried? Will he need help hatching, I've assisted a few bad off hatches (shrink wrapped/weak/injured) most successful.
My plan now for the night is to just go to bed and check every 2 hours on him. But the bleeding worries me a lot with him being upside down and so small. I'm also worried my curiosity is to blame on this. Please if anyone has advice on upside down chicks let me know.
