I got a handful of chicks from someone last weekend who estimated their hatch date to be 6/19-ish. There are two chicks in particular who are quite a bit smaller, though, and don't appear to have quite as many feathers growing in yet. I'm still new to quail and these are the first chicks I've raised, so I was hoping someone might be able to give a better age estimation?

The (presumably) older ones all look like this:

And then younger(?) two look like this:

The ones similar to the first picture appear to be your typical wild type coloration, but I'm not sure what the other two are. Their parents looked darker, but I didn't get a great look at them, and they have pink and black legs/toes. All I know is that they supposedly carry the celadon gene.

they look to be approximately 2 weeks old and bottom picture is most like rosetta.....similar with darker feet possibly tibetan. those colors not feather sexable
hope that helps

The Tibetans/rosettas are probably smaller because jumbo browns are commercially more popular so you find them a lot. celadon layers have been bred for egg color, and most breeders haven’t bred them up to jumbo yet. Those 2 have a good chance of always being a bit smaller, but it shouldn’t make a difference as far as getting along.
