quail chicks in brooder?

I have 25 quail in brooder..5 days old...every so often I will find a chick off to the side wiggling on its back and can't get on feet..like its neck is broke? Anyone

What is the brooder floor like? Is it smooth or slippery?

i used sand in my brooder but next time ill have a larger brooder. I had over 30 in here and it got nasty really quick.

I think my temps were too high... I have a large plywood brooder 4x8ft...plenty of room...paper towels for flooring over wire

Sounds like they're getting splay legged? They can get splay legged even on paper towels...try the non skid material like used in pantries.

You also need a thermometer underneath your heat lamp.
