Hello! So i have four quails just recently hatched about two days ago. I noticed they haven't been eating or drinking water at all. I have tried tapping my finger on the food already and instead they seem to ignore it all together and just keep running around. I have also tried mixing boiled yolk into their food still nothing maybe a few peaks by they quickly lose interest. What do I do?

Hello! and welcome to BYC!!

they should be ok without food or water for a couple days while they finish digesting their yolk, they are very small and dont really eat or drink much so you may not notice that the feed/water is going down
also is the feed small enough for them to eat it? i put mine in the blender for a couple seconds when they are freshly hatched

Good Luck!

Yes i blended up the food and made into very fine. Do you think perhaps they are taking small amounts whenever I'm not watching them? (Edit) I tried peaking my finger at the ground again and one seems to take notice and even follows it, but he doesnt peak at the ground himself

it is very possible that they are eating when you are not looking
what color dish is it in?
i have my quail on puppy pads until they are bigger so i put the feed in a blue (or preferably red) sour cream type lid
the color helps it to stand out, supposedly thats why chicken feed containers are red or yellow

That makes sense, i think I'll try it. So far i have just put it on the paper towel i use as bedding ill see if i can find something
Thank you
Its working! Thank you so much!
