Sounds about right. Depending on whether you count the day they go in as day 1 or day 0 they hatch on day 18 or day 17. I use hatchabatch (an app) and it counts the day they go in as day 1 I think.

Lock down day! When should they start hatching? We have to fly to salt lake Monday for a few days and don't want to abandon chicks in the incubator

Hi, So, my quail are on day 15 in the incubator, and I have the bad incubator, but had a $75 limit on one. the temp has been 115 f this whole time and just realized 'cuz we put an actual thermometer in it? will the eggs die? The incubator won't let me lower the temp.

I wouldn't have thought they'd survive at that temperature even as a temporary spike, let alone the whole incubation. Sorry for the bad luck! But next time make sure to have two calibrated thermometers in there, never rely on what the incubator says, no matter how expensive it is.

I don't think they are all gonna hatch... but have hope. I candled 3, all had movement, and looked like one was trying to internally pip?

Then perhaps your other thermometer you checked with was wrong? Is it calibrated? Either way, good luck!

It's a meat thermometer, I do hope they hatch though!
