Quail egg laying questions

last Tuesday I got my first egg and today my other hen joined in the fun of laying her first egg. I actually got one of the hens laying on video as I have a camera inside their hutch to monitor food and water as well as them during the day when I’m away. Anyways….. both hens laid an egg within 2 minutes of each other. Is it normal for quail to lay so close together time wise? I also find it funny that for a few days one hen laid in the sand box. Then one day she laid an egg behind the water jar and I have no idea how she got it back the because it’s such a tight spot she would have had to climbed the 2x4 block of wood in the corner the watered sits on and squeeze in a 3” space and lay it. Now the hens are laying just in the middle of the floor in the main run area. I knew they didn’t lay in boxes like chickens do. But why is that? Also, the egg today from the hen that laid her first was a pale blue with all the normal speckles. Is there a reason she layed a blue one? Does this happen from time to time? The other then has not laid a blue one.

My hens lay between about 3PM and 7-8PM, so they don't always lay within minutes of each other.

Coturnix quail don't have much broody instinct, so I don't think they worry about where their eggs are laid. They just go about their day and lay wherever they happen to be when the urge hits.

The speckles are the last process in egg production, so sometimes one will miss that last step and be white/pale blue. Odd eggs like this, double yolks, or fairy eggs (tiny) are pretty common with new layers until their reproductive systems are fully mature.
