Quail egg peeler

This post is 10 years old, but an interesting ghost! I always wondered how to make pickled quail eggs affordable when it takes me 2 hours to peel 45. If the machine works and you can use it at scale this may be the answer, but for my flock of 20 not so much. I’ll just buy chicken eggs when I need hard boiled and use quail for the rest.

There are two common versions of the quail egg peeler. The essential difference is that one is manual and the other electric. The manual version can usually be found on Amazon for under $40. The electric type costs about double that or even more.

I bought a manual peeler and it works well IF you follow the instructions and prep the eggs as called for. I think I paid about $35 or so about a year ago. I can peel 50 eggs in a half hour start to finish using the machine. About 1 egg in 5 will have slight damage with a tear in the white but most are perfectly peeled.
