Quail Eggs Due Jan. 17 -- Update pg 2

My eggs arrived in the mail!
Probably not the smartest week to order them, but ah well... live and learn.

8 Jumbo Brown Coturnix and 3 Jumbo Golden Coturnix survived the violence of the postal system.

Here they are, nestled in their nice warm incubator, just brimming with potential.

As you can see, the humidity outside the incubator is quite high enough, I don't plan to add water to the wells until lockdown (Jan 15th, yay!) unless the house humidity drops significantly.

I am so excited right now!

Mine are due the 15....they are buttons...and I have that same thermometer/humidity reader haha

Yep, I got that thermometer/hygrometer at Wallies, cheapest one in the store. I don't expect it to give me the absolute truth, and we get along just fine.

Good luck with your hatch! What colors of button quail do you expect?

When the air inside the bator gets hot, it dries out quite a bit, so water may still be necessary. My house humidity is around 30-35%, but in the bator w/o water it goes down to 10% pretty quick.

EDIT: I totally envy you for your quail. I was hoping to raise some jumbo pharaohs in the summer, but it may not happen (Then again, who's gonna stop me?

)

Thank you Grace, I will definitely keep an eye on the humidity inside the incubator. It would be tragic if I messed my first hatch up that bad.

Also, you SHOULD get quail. I love mine!
