Newbie here setting up my first incubator...I haven't purchased the eggs...waiting to get it all ready first! I purchased an egg turner for my Hovabator. Can I use it with Coturnix quail eggs? Or does someone have a way to modify it to work(pictures would be great!)? I really don't want to order an insert or something.

Thanks!!

I bought some Tennessee red quail and bobwhite quail eggs off ebay. I don't have the quail racks either. The courtenix eggs should fit fine in the standard egg turner. I modified my turner, to say the least to fit these tiny eggs, a few would go through the whole.

This also helps if you want to put more eggs in the bator, then you have room.

Find an egg carton, where the inside of it has tall peaks, like a jumbo egg carton from the store.

Cut just the inside center out, and tape it to one of the turner trays. And cut the tops off leaving a small hole.

It worked great for me, went through a few cartons before I got what I wanted. I still have them and am going to be hatching quail in a few months from my stock eggs.

Good luck, these quail are so neat and they are so personable. Mine jump on me and sit when I feed or water them.

I hatched my coturnix eggs in a regular turner, and they did great. They will fit fine and I like it better because the eggs sit down in the cups more so they are farther away from the heating element. I would still do that today, but I can fit more in the quail rails.

Yeah I figured that out yesterday when we put our unfertilized Coturnix eggs in there. I only ordered two dozen so they will all fit fine.

For some reason I thought there were going to fall through but no.
