Quail eggs

So when are quails actually meant to lay eggs is it between 6 to 8 weeks old they start or after 8 because mine are 7 and still havent laid anything they have a balanced diet and massive coop they have sand baths seeds veggies and their pellets daily and sometimes worms I'm I doing soemthing wrong or is it ok if they lay later

It depends on a lot of factors. They can start to lay as early as 6 weeks, but they should have at least 14 hours of light/day (I've heard up to 16) in addition to good diet and environment. Some things that might stop them from laying aside from light is not enough calcium, predators hanging around, too many males, to name a few. Just about anything that causes them a lot of stress.

They live outside I'm in England and they dont have any addition lights itsf be too tricky to put soem in there I only have 2 males with 16 females and I put oyster shells on their ground and dust baths also near their seeds and veggies its grit with oyster shells they are feeding on breeder quail pellets because at the moment I can not find or buy developer its difficult

I would give them some time, then. I've had hens not start to lay until 12 weeks, I've had one start at 5 and a half.

What kind of quail are they? Coturnix start laying at 6-8 weeks but Bobwhites will start laying at 21-25 weeks.

Japanese I'll add the cuttlebone when it arrives hope soon they are 7 weeks with no eggs some are 6 or near 6 as half are mine and half not I have 2 males which 7 weeks old

Finally got the egg first ever egg so why is it so small I believe they should be bigger than this

The first eggs are often small. They get bigger as the hen gets older.

Mine hatched in Feb and still aren’t laying!
