My roo has been pecked in the eyes and is having some trouble finding his way around as they’re puffy and a little swollen. Is there recommended medication to help with this?
I attached pictures and a video at the bottom
I kept him in a converted dog crate next to his future flock of ladies for 2 weeks. Today was integration day and I tried the vinegar trick (spray vinegar on all the quail so they don’t know who’s new). It seemed to work well at first and I left them alone but I suppose it wore off because when I checked on them a few hours later, he had been pecked in both eyes and was bleeding a bit on his beak. He’s been separated once again and I put some Vetericyn on his beak and a little on his eyes where it looked raw. It’s been three hours since I separated him and he’s still keeping both eyes closed. If I dip his beak in the water he’ll drink but he can’t find the food. I checked both eyes and the eyeball itself doesn’t look visibly damaged. He had one extremely watery poop right after I moved him but everything else has been normal so I assume it was stress from the attack and moving him. Is there recommended treatment for his eyes or a special medicine good for his eyes? If Vetericyn is good enough, how long should I leave him before worrying?
In the video he does open one eye a bit but that’s the first time he’s done it since the incident and he hasn’t done it since.
