I have a male and female bobwhite quail I just started dealing with quails he beat her up pretty bad she's bald on top of her head and half way down her back i guess he was trying to breed her she had her head rucked in the corner to kewp from further pecking and fighting and she was all bloody I'm getting antibiotics when's the feed store opens tomorrow I seperated her from the male how long do I keep them seperated? What can I do to prevent this from happening again?

I am new to quail, too, but I heard somewhere that when they mate the male does tend to pull feathers out from her neck in an attempt to stay on her. Apart from that, you might have two males quail or he just really hates her.
