Hi there,

So this morning when I went to put my quail outside I discovered that one of my male quails had been picked on by the other male quail, receiving a nasty looking head injury. I took him down to the vet as I was unsure how to help him and wanted him to get the best possible treatment. The vet glued some of his head wound closed as there was muscle showing and prescribed us anti inflammatory and antibiotics to help him recover. When I took him back home I realised that his injury was bleeding again. I wasn't sure whether this was supposed to happen after the wound being glued. Soon after I had a friend's mum who owns quail come around to show me how to give him the medicine but she also stuck a tissue on his head to stop the bleeding and she told me to leave it there as it would fall off on its own.
I was just hoping to get another opinion on the tissue being stuck to his head as I do not want it to put him at risk of infection and I have not seen anywhere online about sticking a tissue to an injury.

I will post a photo down below too.

Thank you so much.

It will eventually fall off, but you could carefully trim some of the edges. Once all bleeding has stopped after a day or so, you could drip some saline or apply a warm wet compress to it for a couple of minutes and then remove it.
