Quail Heated Waterer

I searched for heated waterer but all hits relate to chickens. Is it important to get them started on this type nipple from the time they hatch, or will they take to it naturally at an older age?

I have converted all my quail and chicken to "rodent" bottles. I did not have a lot of problem converting them either. With some of the waters the birds had problems pushing in the balls. When I made sure not to have spring loaded balls I had zero issues. You do want to make sure they are drinking from it. Once it is installed we squeezed it a little bit so the water dripped and they figured it out very quickly. Once a few did it they all followed. My chickens, coturnix, and buttons all drink from them. This one doesn't look like a ball tip so I'd just be sure that the birds you are using it for are strong enough to push it.
