Quail hen with terrible hernia

Does that also work for males? Can you keep a pen of boys together more or less peacefully if they get less than 8 hours of light daily and don’t become sexually mature or activated?
It can help, but it depends on the personalities of the birds involved. It will reduce crowing and sexual activity and violence, but may not eliminate it completely.

To be honest, it might not keep all hens from laying as well. I had a calico fee that laid an egg every day during the winter when none of the other hens felt like they had enough light to lay.

There should be calcium in her feed but I will give them oyster shell . How does that influence prolapse?
It has to do with egg laying. If they don't have enough calcium they can't create strong shells and they prolapse a lot more. I do know that if a quail is egg bound, getting calcium into them as quickly as possible can help along with an epsom salt bath.
