Quail hoarding

I don’t need an intervention…yet!
I'm thinking I do! I just can't quit hatching! I'm up to staggering over 2 dozen eggs every 5 days, and I'm thinking of going to 4 days so I don't have to wait so long. :gig

I'll try 4 but that's risky with silkies sometimes hatching early, and sometimes having one that needs to stay in the incubator longer than the rest. Oh Lordie!

I have a problem…big group pen means you can keep birds for a little while you otherwise couldn’t…old mascot males, half size mutants, that nice bird that doesn’t lay…I want 20…I have 30…I admit I have a problem and have already taken steps. I don’t need an intervention…yet!
Not to worry you are not alone! I think it's rather hopeless, and intervention would only be a temporary stopgap measure, LOL. I found a post here about chicken math @BaaKaaawk. I felt SO much better after reading it, and have since added a proof of my own: If the weight of the chicken is what I call feather or fly-weight, the chicken does not count. I weigh my chickens by picking them up and it's quite an accurate method LOL! I have several little Serama bantams who are literally tiny puffs of air. Since they do not register on my "weight" scale, they therefore cannot take up any space, and therefore do not count towards my chicken count. :wee
