Sorry, I was unaware where to post this question so I posted in 2 different places. You can remove one if you wish, wherever it doesn't belong.
I have actually never even hatched quail before, even alone. I have hatched chicks and I've hatched ducks, but the Last time was over a year ago so I'm kind of rusty. I :/am getting some silkie eggs from a local farm in a couple days when everything is set up, and the guy has an abundance of quail laying this year so he asked if I wanted some of those as well and said that I could hatch them together. They are just assorted coturnix quail. He has Japanese, Tibetan, Texas A&M, and tuxedo all together. Should I set either one earlier? Ideal temp and humidity to accommodate both? I will probably not be keeping the quail for too long as I don't know much about raising them and I already have everything set up outside with my chickens in it so I'll probably give them to a friend that has a few if they hatch. And this may sound dumb but what exactly is a hatcher? I know a lot of people put chicks in a separate hatcher for them to hatch? Should I put the chicks and/or quail in a separate hatcher.? And should they be in a separate brooder as well? Or can they be housed together? About how long until I could give the quail to someone and remove them from the brooder?I have heard you're supposed to clip the top beak of the quails. Is this true?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm just new at this.

quail will be ready to hatch around day 17-18. Im not sure on chickens but is about day 22-24 so that can be a problem as the quail will require lockdown (the eggs to be removed from a turner and the humidity raised) while the chickens are still in incubation mode.

A hatcher is just a incubator with the turner removed. Most turners can hold more eggs than you can hatch in the same area so people have a separate hatcher that they warm up to use in the last few days because of the extra space required. The hatcher also helps when you have different hatch dates.

find the correct dates for quail and chickens (the breed you plan on) then ask if you can pick the eggs up on 2 separate dates or hold the quail before incubation so both go on lockdown together.

never hatched chickens and quail together (never hatched a chicken to be honest) but I have hatched quail and turkeys together and have not had any problems, I only brood for a few weeks as im in florida so the quail don't stay long. ive heard the quail need space or they will attack each other but ive never seen it as they have plenty of space outside.
