Quail learn to fly fast

On 1/11/2009 i hatched out some quail and for the cold weather we have been having in iowa, i built them a box 6 feet long, by 2 feet wide, by 2 feet deep. On 1/30/2009 we had to start rounding up quail as they were getting out of the box !!!

I've heard that!!!

My chickies were getting out of their brooder box, so I took an old dog crate and put them in there...you can usually find them cheap on craigslist.com...Just a suggestion!!!!

yeah, i have to cover all my brooders except fo the maet birds, there is no way they could get off the ground!

My buttons start trying to fly at about 1 week and succeed at 2 weeks. They're not very good at it, but it helps them play keep-away. The Coturnix do more elongated hops for about three weeks. They're easier to catch.
