quail molting in summer!!!

Chances are your quail is not moulting unless she has seen a drastic change in her length of light hrs..... More likely is she is being over bred by too many males. Or she is being kept with one roo that does not have enough hens. If she is balding at the back of her head and neck, and maybe just above her tail, this is not a moult.... If you get your ratios right she can catch a break..... Most of the trouble you have seen over the last month or so come back to wrong hen to roo ratio. Good luck, Bill

That is not enough hens. I would add a couple more. Quail rarely go bald or really thin during a molt. I think your male is over breeding one of these hens. He is most likely favoring this hen and he is going to kill her with his mating.

He can live alone, although over time he may get lonely. But for now you need to keep your hen safe. So keep him out of there until she heals. Maybe get more hens later on down the road. Mix them in slowly from a cage within the pen for several weeks.
