Quail Pens

I've found that a dark area, box or just covered area, tends to concentrate them. I have even cut a hole in the end of a shoe box, tossed a little straw in it and had them lay dozens in there. Simply remove top to get eggs.

Flight pens vary, but mine are 28' x 36' with the capability to drop netting in the middle to make two 14'x36' runs if I have different aged birds I need to put in it. If you can afford it, put metal roofing panels or flashing around the lower 3' feet to keep snakes out. I used shade cloth on top of heavy duty plastic construction netting or chicken wire, never had problems with raccoons or coyotes, but I doubt it would slow them down if they wanted in. Smaller birds can fly through standard chicken wire, I double up netting so that I can put smaller birds in the flight pens when they are younger.

You could build your cage with a slight inclined floor. Make sure the top layer of wire runs the same direction as the incline. Your eggs well all roll down hill. ;)
