quail pipped but then stopped moving

hi Im new to hatching quail and all that jazz but its day 18 and one egg has hatched but last night one started working in a peep hole but then today it just stopped all movement im just looking to find out if its normal and if not what to do

also, is there way there kinda nocturnal because the eggs were very active last night

Eggs aren't nocturnal however they work at hatching then rest for long periods. Give the pipped egg 6 more hours then think about assisting. Visit the thread "hands on hatching help"

its been like 19 hours since Ive seen movement should I assist

I would say yes. remove the egg from the incubator and chip away some of the shell around the pip. Don't mess with the membrane unless it is dry and brown. If you dont see the beak, you may want to pull away a little membrane so the chick can breath, have corn starch ready to stop bleeding. if it bleeds wait and try again later.

Coturnix quail can take 24 hours between pip and zip. I would wait that long before even thinking about assisting.
