Quail predators !

The problem is that they know where to find these birds, and will be back. In addition to what everyone else has said about hardware cloth, after losing one of my hens to a local cat, I gave some serious thought about stringing a low voltage wire around the area where I used to keep my quail. I have a live catch trap that has been doing a good job for cats, but from my experience, there is never just "one 'coon".

A terrier dog will rat out a coon. Of course you have to be sure that they can't get your birds too because they were bred to hunt small prey. I have a Sheltie/Lab cross who totally terrorizes 'possoms, coons, rabbits and squirrels. She is not that much bigger than a regular Sheltie, but when she takes after something she is unstoppable. Now she won't touch any animal that I bring in the house and introduce to her as mine but everything else is fair game.
