quail questions- experts needed!

Can quail free range like chickens? Can they live in the coop with my chickens; it's definitely tall with small mesh and opens to an attached run at all times. Will I have to keep them in there though, or can they wander around the yard? Basically, I'm wondering about the difference between quail and chicken care.

2. Its Not A Good Idea To Mix Chickens And Game Birds--- There's A Lot Of Diseases Chickens Tolerate That Quail Cant. The Result Is A Disease That Whipes Out Your Quail Population. 3. They Need Different Conditions And Nutrition Than Chickens== Again Bad Combo

5. They Do Best In An Totally Enclosed Pen To Prevent Their Escape And Provide Predator Protection

Basically Quail Are Not Much Different To Keep And Care For Than Any Other Bird, They Do Require Their Own Set Of Rules For Their Care Tho.

Oh I Forgot To Meantion The Legal Stuff--- Depending On Your State You May Have To Have A Permit To Even Think Of Owning Quail. And Almost All States Have Strict Laws About Releasing Them--- Free Ranging Looks Like Releasing To A Game Warden, Who Would Probably Make Very Bad Things Happen To You In Court If He Ever Saw Or Heard Of You Doing This....

What is the best age to pinion quail? I have 3 going on 3 weeks old...is that too young or too old???

Well, I pinioned my 3 last night...not pleasant. They "puked", pooped and kind of just wilted in my hand during the procedure and bled way more than I expected. Kept a close eye on them afterwards and offered them some powdered food mixed with some water and electrolytes. Was not sure if this is normal? I cut off just what Monarc23 shows in her tutorial...not at the joint but just the tip as shown.
