Hi I got my quail last week, they’re getting feathers so I looked to see if I could tell the gender and they all have the speckled breasts. I don’t know if I should rely on that.

Hmm I’m not sure, but some pictures would be very helpful. If you end up not being 100% sure on their genders based off your judgement, just wait until you hear the males crow. It is possible that you have all hens, not sure who or where you’re getting them from though.

It would be lovely if they are all girls. My ladies often prefer to lay their eggs in their dust bath box, though, as Sean says, they will lay anywhere.

I do have 2 males that are kept separate from the females. They probably need even more space than what I gave them. I had to put a PVC T shaped connector pipe in there for them to break up chasing and sight lines, along with other hiding spots. I probably just need to suck it up and slaughter them... it's so hard to do though. They are so cute.

Still a bit too young to tell. The first pic might be a female but as you said they all look alike, so it's a bit early to tell.
