I have 1 too in with 6 of my hens (they hatched together, so they’ve been around each other their whole lives). Initially, he would make his rounds and we would notice a few feathers missing from end heads on occasion.

But I noticed today, one of my hens he a bald little mow hawk stripe on her head and I wonder if it’s typically for roos to show preference to one hen despite being in a larger group of females? There are no signs of fighting among the hens so I’m 99% sure its from the roo. The only difference between the hens is that this one is the only pharaoh coloring in the mix (as is the roo), the others are roux, sparkly, and pearl.

We’re only keeping this too until our others are grown out and will decide which one to keep, so he may end up as dinner despite being a horn dog.

Roosters will pick their favorites! Depending on your situation, I would remove him until the hen heals, maybe 2 weeks, or remove the hen like you have done. It's tricky because she may have a heard time getting thrown back into the flock. Roosters are much easier to intergrate.
