Hi all, new here!!

Yesturday my quail was walking around her cage fine and when I checked her again she couldn’t l walk on her left leg. She has been alert since and dosent look like she’s lost appetie or stopped drinking ( I have just syringe fed her water and apple cider vinegar mix just incase)

She now don’t move from her position and has eyes closed. But seems like she’s still alert. Any help/advice.

Will my baby be okay?

Thank you very much!

Can you post pictures of her leg?
Does it respond when you gently tug on it?
What is your setup like?
How many birds do you have?
What are you feeding them?
How old is she?

I have no pics of her leg atm.
I there is slight resistance when you push the leg back into the body.
She’s in a smaller cage on her own with no other birds. (She was an experiment from a corner shop box of quail eggs and she’s the only one that hatched)
She’s eating chick crumb as this is the only thing she will eat. I have tried everything!!
She was born at 00:01 on 01/01/2021! So just over 1

Pics would really help. The slight resistance is good. That means she's feeling it and has muscle use.

Can you get her some game bird crumble? The chick crumble probably doesn't have all of the nutrients she needs. If she's sitting fluffed in a corner, that's not good. Has she been laying regularly? Does her poop look normal?

She’s not sitting fluffed up but just sitting there almost asleep!

She layed last night as she has been thought the month!
Poop looks normal.

So far, it sounds like either injury or improper feed. When you get a chance, post pictures of the leg and foot (including the bottom of the foot). Check for any swelling or evidence of soreness.

No swelling in the foot or legs.
She’s shown more restraint when I gave it a gentle tug just now.
She is eating drinking and pooping. SHE HAS EVEN LAID A EGG!

Is it possible that her talons are getting in her way? They really need a trim.

Is she improving? I'm thinking at this point, it's wait and see or take her to a vet. I do recommend changing her diet to game bird crumble if you can get it.

I have Litterlay just trimmed them now. I had the same thought. There’s still lameness on that left leg but mobility is better than before (not good, but better)

She is still just laying down resting. Again eating and drinking.

I think I am going to adopt the wait and see approach as I’m not sure that there would be anything that could be done.
