Quail Show

Wow dc you have a fair amount of goldens
I keep around 30 breeders, mostly Pharaoh and Golden speckled, but I have some rosettas, a&ms and tuxedos.

I'm actually trying to breed the black spotting out of my golden speckled birds to end up with a golden bird with only rusty red speckles. I can get the roos to come out that way (aside from a bit of black around their crown sometimes) but I'm still working on the hens. It's a slow process but I am making headway (about a year and half into it)
.
Here is a hen who still has some black speckling but much less than the previous generation.

Here is a roo that has only a couple black edged primaries (probably the closest I have come to success at this project)

Thanks TwoCrows. My neighbors line up to get what I shovel out of the cages so it makes it easy to keep them really clean. I just put the buckets of quail made compost material out front of my driveway and the neighbors throw the empty buckets back over the fence.

Kyle that is a beautiful bird. If ever you decide to take up smuggling fowl into the US please make me your first customer. I have seriously considered sneaking silver eggs in from Canada more than once.

Edit to add pictures.

Wow, those are amazing. I have tried to breed them similarly to that but as you said I only had success with the Roos. and I never knew those Silvers existed; but if they can be found in Canada, I swear I WILL FIND THEM!
