I found out something new Niki. Some folks call the jumbos pharaoh as well. So this makes it quite a bit confusing!
I'm just starting to call them normal browns, that way I know what's what
those goofballs dont know what they are talking about lol! the whole reason pharoahs are called pharoahs is because they are the wild type (or closest to it) jumbos aren't anywhere near that in look etc.
A customer that's going to be buying from me a lot here, asked me what kind of quail I was raising (before he came) and I said "coturnix" and he was asking me all these questions about them and I explained that I had pharoahs I was willing to sell. And he goes "oh i know of those!" and im like "those are the same thing as coturnix, just wild sized." I told him that all my quail were coturnix. Then he comes here and sees my golden jumbos and he asks me what species of quail they are
*shakes head* LOL!
To me calling jumbo coturnix pharoahs, is like calling white meat turkeys eastern wild turkeys...
meaning that pharoahs are the equivalent to eastern wild turkeys
and jumbos are equivalent to the meat birds
LOL
edited because i was making no sense. probably still am not LOL
