Quail stopped laying. Has this happened to you?

I have one male and three females in the quad. I'll be testing fertility once I get a dozen eggs.

I got 8 Texas A&M this weekend and they layed a few eggs but haven't had any for a couple of days now. Just gave them some oyster shell, we'll see if they pick up soon.

I read somewhere that they need lots of hours of daylight or blacklights to make them lay a lot.

I put in some bright CFLs for them. They should be getting more than the 14 hours of light they need.

I am dealing with the same thing. I have 4 separate quail enclosures. 2 under a large shed, 2 under a smaller converted rabbit coop. 8 hens and 2 males to each. 2 contain older quail, 2 contain this year's hatch now producing fertile eggs. Yesterday's eggs totaled 12(about 5 less than normal. Today I have no egss. None, nada, zip. I keep reading that they res r like chickens when days get shorter. It's super sunny July here in central Alabama. They're all eating finisher grower with egg shells in a separate dish.Lixit waters so water stays clean. Fresh veggies (peas, cucumber and squash) a couple of times a week. Kinda freaked about the over night memo to stop the egg production.

Hot weather can turn birds off of laying. They want their young to be able to survive.
