Well I had 8 Jumbo Golden Cortunix quail eggs due yesterday and now have 4 happy and healthy chicks. 2 are the Golden color 2 are going to probably be a Brown with some gold in them. Also have 16..1 week old Jumbo Browns in the brooder waiting to meet these guys. But wont be doing the introduction till Friday-Saturday.
    Here they are! Enjoy!!!

my fil wants me to hatch some bobwhite next month ( after my chickens are done ) .... what is different about raising them? How long until they can be released? I'm trying to read, but 1st hand experience would be great!

With bobwhite you have to really watch them. They incubate for 23-24 days....and the chicks are very skittish. I always brood gamebirds with a 250watt red heat bulb. And on papper towels their first couple days than on pine shavings. I dont know on release as I have only ever raised pheasants for release. I would probably say between 5-10 weeks on quail. But not sure on that. Quail arent really worth releasing because they are kind of dumb since raised in captivity. But I had great success with ringnecks.
Anymore questions feel free to ask!
