quail vs, duck

That's kind of like comparing lamb to pork. They are both wonderful but have different styles and uses.

Quail is all dark meat, very tender and very tasty. It dries out easily if you aren't careful. I wouldn't compare it to duck meat because they aren't even similar. I personally prefer quail but they aren't on the same spectrum

Taste wise, I prefer duck, but I really like quail too.....

BUT if you are wanting to raise the butcher birds yourself, quail are much more economical, and easier to process, and quicker to raise.....Ducks take longer, are more expensive, and if you dont have an auto plucker, have fun! You can pull a handfull of feathers, and it doesnt look like you ever touched the bird.

I raise both, I love ducks for pets and eggs, but quail are the way to go for putting meat in the freezer.....But I do prefer duck eggs over quail...taste wise

thanks so much that was really helpful. I will have to look into quail.

I agree with what has been said- if you are going to raise the birds for meat I would do quail- they are fast, economical, and easy to dress.
