Hello all,
I reside in Michigan where I keep my quail cages inside a pole barn. The winter temps can often dip down to 0°F if not lower. I'm trying to plan ahead for this coming winter, and wanted to query you folks who also live in a like climate, and what you do to keep your water in a liquid state?
I would like to direct my question to those who raise quail if I may.
One thought I had was to use a piece of 4 in. PVC pipe, with a cap on one end. I would then fit a water nipple to the center of the cap. The other end would remain open or closed, so that water could be poured in and I could also insert an aquarium heater. I would then hang the pipe so that the nipple extends through the top wire giving the birds access to the water nipple.
Obviously each cage would have its own separate waterer.
The purpose not being to keep the water at 80° - 90° F, but to keep it above freezing.
I'd appreciate any suggestions and ideas on the subject.
