Hi all!
I bought a HORRIBLE incubator, all of my eggs are extremely late, so this is not unexpected.

Our first hatch out can only lay on its side and push itself around.
Any ideas? Any solutions?
It freaks out unless i’m holding it, i can’t hold them 24/7 but I definitely would if I could.
Chick is less than 24 hours old. Very vocal, and lots of energy just no way to stand.

Imgr since i can’t figure out how to upload pics.

Welcome To BYC

How are you planning on brooding the chicks? I'd put the chick in a warm brooder lined with puppy towels. Check her frequently to make sure she's not overheating.

If you have poultry Nutri-Drench, give her 1-2 drops twice a day. If you don't have that, dissolve 1/4 tablet B-Complex in a very small amount of water and give her drops of the vitamin water throughout waking hours.

With Quail, I leave them in the incubator for about 24hrs before removing them. Generally at hatch they should be fairly mobile, but sometimes it takes a few hours to get their legs under them.

Hopefully this one will improve for you, sadly, I have not found that it the case with most Quail, if they are not mobile in a few hours, they don't make it.

Goodmorning Wyorp.
Chick has not improved much. She’s using her feet to move around but not her actual toes, so she’s still struggling pretty bad.
We think we’re going to cull her, eating and drinking which will be hard with her mobility issues, and possibly inhumane.
She’s in a tub with paper towels and a heat lamp currently as the brooder. No other chicks hatched yet, and wer’e already so late the chances of anymore hatching without problems will be slim to none I believe.
Very sad for all of us, and sad for the chicks but a lesson learned with the incubator.
I’ll keep everyone updated incase someone needs this help later on.
She is receiving drops, with not much improvement.
