Quails not laying

I have 4 quail- 3 female and 1 male. Jumbo cortunix. But I only find 1 egg a day and not even every day. I had 1 day where I found 3 but that’s it. I thought they were consistent every day layers. Not having eggs doesn’t bother me, I’m more afraid something is wrong making them not lay. They’re outside. On the ground. I rotate their pen around once their spot is bare. They have hiding areas and I routinely put trimmed tree branches and small hay bales in for them to hide around. Anything I’m missing??? I’ve never had quail before, I just want them happy! I had 2 more females but they both had accidents ending in them being put down.

I am having this same issue! How long have you had them? Are you finding a ton of feathers in their pen? I'm wondering if mine are molting. I've read that they will stop laying while molting.

Yes, if they're moulting they won't lay. How old are they? It can take them a bit to start laying everyday.

They’re 12–15 weeks. I’ve had them for 12 but I think the lady said they were already 3 weeks when we took them.

I haven’t noticed any feathers. I’ll dig around some more tomorrow in their pen!

They should get more consistent as they get older.
