Usually a hatcher is another incubator without the egg turner, the eggs are moved to the "hatcher" from the main incubator at lockdown. Usually 3 days before the eggs hatch.
If you only have one incubator, you can remove the turning trays or turn the turner off for the lockdown period. A hatcher comes in handy when incubating staggered sets of eggs. You raise the humidity during lockdown, therefore, if only 1 incubator is used, the other eggs would be exposed to the higher humidity and potentially harm the other developing embryos. Plus, keeps the hatching chicks from rolling the other eggs around, possible of breaking the eggs.
