Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I'm a chicken person and don't know much about quail (never had any), but they sure are cute, little birds. You should post this on our Quail section at https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/48/quail and take advantage of our quail experts there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in raising your quail.
Head for "Other Backyard Poultry" forum where you will find threads for quail, as well as ducks, geese, guineas etc. The quail folks can give you much better information. Welcome to BYC
They sure changed as they got older. Funny little things. Thought I would keep them
inside..changed my mind. They need to be outdoors..my opinion, no place out there at
my place..so...sold them.
Coturnix quail are a great quail to start with. They are very docile and friendly and a great starter quail. They mature in 9+ weeks and are ready to lay. Quail are seasonal layers so if you start now, they will not be laying til spring unless you add lighting all winter. Be careful with this however as new layers are subject to egg binding being forced to lay so early in life.
Definitely stop by our quail section for more info. Good luck on this new journey and enjoy your quail!
