has anyone ordered bantam cochins from mcmurray? on a scale of 1-10 (1 being world's ugliest chicken, 10 being world champ cochin) what are they? if you have pics that would be fantastic.

I know if I want SQ chickens to just get them from a breeder, but I am probably not going to be showing and it is so much easier to just get them from a hatchery.

I ordered lots of birds from McMurray and the cochins were good. My partridge roo recieved only seconds though and my blue hen turned splash. Also a roo though gorgeous turned splash too. so i dont know if u want blues from them. My black cochins were always too big but again gorgeous. soooo if ur going to get anyone i suggest mcmurray. i didnt like ideal

My Norma Jean was absolutely beautiful and friendly. While not a bantam, she was HUGE!!! I got all my chickens from McMurray, and have put in another order for 50 chicks for the first week of March.

RIP Norma Jean:

My first bantam cochins were blacks from McMurray. Out of the 4 I got 2 girls, Dolly and Sissy. I got them at the end of Jan in 2005. You can tell they are cochins, but have tails instead of the nice mounds of Show Cochins.

**Dolly at 1 year old, Jan 06
**Sissy at 1 year old, Jan 06

This was Dolly last year with her first Brood. She was great momma to all 9 of her babies.
**Dolly and babies

Both laides are still here and will be all their lives. Dolly is smaller then Sissy, but that is only because she got Cocci as a 2 month old and was stunted.

And Norma Jean is definately a White Langshan. I got 3 of those from MM in 2006. I lost MoMo and Girly last year to poison. Ms. Langsy is here and part of "used to be" layer flock(retired pets).

The slate legs and body stance are a dead give away on breed for langshan.

OK, what's the difference between a Langshan and a cochin?

I thought any chicken with feathers on their feet were cochins????????????

OK, Matt, you said the slate legs and body stance. I guess I should read the posts all the way through..
