Quality Silkies

So do any normal hatcheries sell quality silkies. I have a silkie that came from a hatchery and she’s horrible looking scraggly and not very fluffy in body or head. I had two beautiful silkie hens that someone abandoned on my door they were so much different then my hatchery silkie…so I was wondering if they came from a different hatchery or what(no way to tell I know). I’m no silkie expert by any means but I’ve seen some beautiful birds on here did any of them come from hatcheries or are most from private breedings.

You have a much better chance of getting a nice silkie from a private breeder. Maybe you should post in the Wanted to Buy section. There are some good breeders here on BYC. Good luck!

All the hatcheries are more interested in quantity than quality. Chances are, your two nice one (course I have not seen them) came from a private person and not a hatchery.
