Quanity of water

How much water should a hen have a day. I have a sick Red Star and I want to make sure she gets enough water.

I typically isolate my sick chickens in a medium sized dog crate and put a plastic chick waterer in there that I got from Tractor Supply. That's probably overkill, but it's just what I happen to have. I'd guess it holds around 1/2 a quart or so.
