I have a hen house that my husband and sons are expanding and tidying up. When done, it will be approx 26 Sq ft. My chickens will be cozy, but it's only a sleeping/laying area.
We have an old shed type of thing-solid wood, looks kinda like an outhouse. My husband asked if I would want that in there as well. It's tall, not wide, so it would realistically be much smaller, but still give me the option of closing off the bottom for storage, and using the top as more hen space. It's really rather cute! I also like the idea of more chicken space (Just in case of the emergency chicken math issue)

My question is this...what are the odds that the chickens would use it? Would they all crowd into one henhouse, or would they split up into the two?

Thanks!

Ok, so...nothing?

I'll just bring it to the top...see if anyone has an opinion. Thanks!

New here so just a thought...use it! I already wish I had more storage space and my coop is brand new! Besides it seems like chicken math will get the best of us!

I'd use it. I've heard of others who have two coops and one day they'll all be in one coop and the next they'll be split between the two. It gives them options and if they don't ever use it then you've got storage close or a potential brooder near the coop.
