Out of 5 eggs i got 2 roosters all of them are tiny tiny... Their mother (not sure on the breed) is less then a lb at over a year old and their papa is a white cochin bantam. I had them outside yesterday morning and the little guy stood up and crowed then went to try and mate with one of my japanese hens. The babies are about 5 weeks old now. My question is is it normal for him to be doing this mating buisness when hes still sooo small he fits in the palm of my hand? the babies i hatched before these are close to 4 months old and only one of those roos are mating with the hens. Seems to me that this lil guy is very advanced for his age? Boy is it a sight to watch him try LOL

Yeah i thought so altho i have only been raising chickens as pets for close to 2 years now i have NEVER seen one like this one lol. Poor hen was just dragging him around on her back. I could of swore i heard benny hill music playing in the background:lol:

LoL amyquilt .... not sure if thats gonna be a good thing or bad thing at this point my 1 yr olds are pretty upset with me hatching more babies but seem to tolerate them as long as they dont sleep in the coop with them at night.

That little guy wants some action!!I think you need a talk with him about humping at SUCH a young age !! Geez..........and I thought our roosters were HORNY!!

Our Golden Campine roo started crowing at 5 weeks, but he waited til he was 6 weeks old before he started chasing the ladies!
