Question about a young roo and young pullets

Ok so I have 5 young pullets and I think as do many of you I have one roo. They are all about 5 1/2 weeks old. When my hens start laying will the eggs be fertile even though my roo will be the same age age them? Or will they all still be to young? I am just trying to prepare myself as I am new to this. I have searched the forum and have yet to find an answer.

By the time the hens start laying, the cockerel will be sexually mature; therefore, the eggs will be fertile. This will have no effect upon the quality of the eggs or whether or not you can eat them.

the roo will start covering your girls a few weeks before they start laying... so if you happen to notice the deed, start keeping an eye out for eggs....
with my mixed breed and age flock it's a great way to know which of my younger ones should start laying soon....
