I have a couple ?'s. I am down to the nitty gritty on incubating.

Does one stop turning right at Day 18, or at the end of Day 18?

Also do you also remove all the vent plugs, so they get oxygen, etc, or leave them in, so humidity stays up? Not sure how that works, if you leave them in, how do the chickies get air, and if you take them out, how do you keep your humidity up? Ugh!

I have a Brower Top Hatch by the way...

TIA
Jill

Anyone????

Jill, The incubators have air circulated to allow for oxygen. In the Top Hatch. Air comes from under the unit and is forced up by the fan. You want to make sure that nothing blocks the bottom of your incubator. I would leave one plug open as described in the instructions. If Humidity is low you might have to close it. I have used a quarter to place partially over the opening. There will be enough oxygen for the hatch. Once chicks start to hatch the humidity goes up so it will not be a problem to leave the plug out.

I don't think it matters to much on the time of day. I take the turner out early on the 18th day because I know they are getting in position to hatch and I don't want to make it harder for them by movement. Turning is most important in the first 10 days.

Why thank you, Jaynie

I should have thought of that, but it seems so enclosed that I worried. I did have the plug out off and on, I know it said to leave it out but my humidity after being too high in that hot weather, went way low after it cooled down somewhat, and my temps wouldnt hold steady when I had it out, so its been off and on with it being out. Hope that is ok, but I know its live and learn. Too bad they didnt hatch in that super hot weather, cuz was no problem getting the humidity up, we had outside h. of over 80% and it was affecting everything! We wouldnt even have had to have a heat lamp at that time!

The action should begin late Tuesday the way I figure it, thanks for all your help!
