Tomorrow night I am getting 9 silkie/cochin banty crosses... I don't know for sure how old they are, I think about 1 week or so. Should I put them in a seperate brooder or do you think I could put them with my other 100 2 week old chicks? I am thinking seperate brooder...but that means yet another heat lamp plugged in ( I already have 3 going at this time)

Thoughts please!

It depends on how big the size difference really is.

I always have mixed size chicks in the brooder. It doesn't seem to be an issue unless you have banties growing up with something that grows big, fast. Like a meatie.

Even then, it may not be an issue.

Well I have all my meaties in a seperate brooder completly. The other one is all pullets. I guess I will wait until I see the size differences. Thanks!
