Question about barred rock sexs

Well I have a few br mutts. Some have a all balck head and some have a white spot on there head. Do females have white spots?

If the male parent is solid colored and the female parent is barred, then the female offspring will be solid, the males will have a white head spot. If the male parent is barred, then all offspring will have some barring.

My 2 hens had white on their heads when they were chicks. But I think it can go either way.

I also had three chicks who I tried sexing at about 1 week old. All three had white spots on their heads, two were a little more pronounced. They also all had the black splashing on their legs. I ended up with two roos and one hen.

I wasn't able to tell for certain until about 8 weeks or so. That was when the size of the cockerels took off and the pullet stayed small.
