question about blue plymouth rocks

I bought some day old chicks last spring locally and was told they are blue plymouth rocks. Two oare black with a greenish-bluish irridescence (sp?), two are grey with maybe a gunmetal bluish and two are like a dirty white, not bright white like leghorns.

So my question is, is there a range of colors withinn the breed of blue plymouth rocks?

Hi! It sounds like your Rocks are from a blue x blue breeding and are black, blue, and splash.

OK, I think I figured out how to post pic's

So does that mean they are Blue PR's, Black PR's and Splash PR's?

Sorry couldn't get a good pic of the white ones, they are more skittish than the others

Yes they would be Blue, Black and Splash Plymouth Rocks.

If you breed Black to Black there offspring will be 100% Black
If you breed Splash to Black there offspring will be 100% Blue
If you breed Splash to Splash there offspring will be 100% Splash
If you breed Splash to Blue there offspring will be 50% Blue, 50% Splash
If you breed Blue to Black there offspring will be 50% Blue, 50% Black
If you breed Blue to Blue there offspring will be 50% Blue, 25% Splash, 25% Black

Thanks Chris, good info! Intersting how splash to black = blue.

Since I only have one roo and he's BCM it will be interesting to see what the chicks come out like, I am incubating 20 of the blue, black and splash eggs with the BCM roo father.

I should work the same as breeding a black to each of the colors.

Example -
Black Cooper to Blue hen offspring should be 50% Blue with some Gold leaking through in the neck and 50% Black with some Gold leaking through in the neck.
