Our local Southern States is taking pre-orders for POL Bovans for around $6.50 each. I'm seriously thinking of going this route--hens delivered in May @ 18 weeks old--rather than trying to start RIR or Black Rock sexed chicks at $2.50 each. I'm only thinking about 4-5 hens since it's only my husband & myself at home now.
I have no idea *which* Bovans these will be (Brown, Goldline, etc.). All the girl at SS could tell me was that they were Bovan. From what I've read, they seem to be a sturdy little hen that takes happily to free range. Odd thing was, that aside from this site, most of the other keepers seem to be in the UK.
Would love to talk to some others on here who have had some experience with both POL hens and Bovans in particular.
Thanks,
Jane
