? Question about breeding and genetics ?

I have 3 different pairs of OEGB's, and each pair is of a different variety. I have Silver duckwing, spangled, and blue red. I have always just had them and raised chicks off of them to sell but I just recently started thinking about cutting down to one or two varieties and focusing on breeding them to make my birds better. Here is where my question comes in. I dont know the first thing about how to breed certain hens or roosters to other certain hens or roosters to enhance the color, get a certain characteristic, etc. etc. etc. and I was just wanting to ask and see if anyone could give me some help on understanding it better or possible tell me of a book that I could purchase to help me better understand it.
