Ok, hey all.

I have a Buff Brahma hen and rooster. I've hatched out quite a few of their off spring that are now cockerels and pullets. My question is, can I continue breed those cockerels and pullets together? I was told that the lines aren't supposed to be related for breeding. Do I need a new Roo from somewhere else to breed with my hens?

You can breed them for a few generations before introducing new genes. Just remember you'll be intensifing good AND bad qualities, so if there's any undesirable traits you won't want to breed that close. If the birds are what you want, you'll be fine for a few generations.

To save going over ground that's been gone over again & again I'll suggest you do a search here for "line Breeding". It's the method used by most successful breeders & it has been thoroughly explored several times. One point I will address is the notion that breeding from unrelated parents is a good approach. Nothing could be further from the truth.
