question about breeds and rooster

We only have 5 chickens--1 rooster and 4 hens--Rhode Island Reds. We would like to get a few of the breed that lays different colored eggs. What breed is that and would they get along with my Reds?

Also, our rooster, who we got a few weeks ago (our neighbors dog killed our first rooster), tries to mount the hens but they are not very obliging. Is there anything I can do to encourage this?

They should do great with your RIRs. Also your hens will let him mount when their ready. Does he "dance" before he tries to mount them?

Yes, he does "dance". He circles one and tries but sometimes they walk off and he gives up, for the time being.
He was successful one time that I saw but I didn't "see" anything productive, if that makes sense. I know this sounds weird, but since I am new to all this, I would like to know how it works.
